Will I be out of control and made to say or do things I don't want to?
During hypnotic trance you will usually experience a deeply relaxed state, but you will remain totally in control of yourself at all times and aware of what is going on around you. You will be able to talk to me and answer questions etc. If you are still worried about trance there are many techniques I can use from NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and other areas of therapy which do not involve going into a trance state, so please contact me to discuss how I can help you.
Can I be hypnotised?
Hypnosis is simply the act of being guided into a trance state and trance is a normal part of everyday life. You may have experienced driving to somewhere you go regularly, like work, and suddenly realising that you have arrived. Or watching a television programme and day dreaming through it. These are both examples of being in a trance state. So yes, generally we can all be hypnotised. If you have never been hypnotised or worked with a hypnotherapist before then it’s natural to feel a little bit nervous and perhaps a bit tense about the experience. We will spend plenty of time talking about your problem and how you want things to be in the future before we move onto using a trance, so you will have time to relax and get to know me first.
What does hypnosis feel like?
As we are all individuals, then we all experience trance slightly differently. People tend to describe it as a deeply relaxing feeling, perhaps a bit like floating or sinking. At times during trance you might notice yourself drifting off and then coming back – or become aware of thoughts floating in and out of your mind. You are in control at all times and can talk to me or open your eyes if you want to. After the session you will probably continue to feel relaxed (as if you have had a good night’s sleep) and that feeling can remain for several hours.
Can I get stuck in hypnosis?
No. You are completely in control and can open your eyes whenever you want to. If somebody guided you into trance and then left you there, you would either decide to open your eyes and come out of trance – or if you were very tired would drift off into sleep and wake up naturally in your own time. But please be assured that I will never leave you in trance for longer than our agreed session time!
How many sessions do I need?
As everyone is different we can't agree up front how many Hypnotherapy or Coaching sessions you will require but an average number is 5-7 sessions. Some problems take just a couple of sessions – but most need a course of treatment of between 3 and 8 sessions. Occasionally I will see someone for longer if it is appropriate. You can be assured that each session will be individually tailored to suit you and to help you change as quickly as you would like to.
When can I see you?
I work full-time as a Cognitive Hypnotherapist and Coach and I see clients on Monday to Thursday with my earliest session at 10:00 am and my last session starting at 7:00 pm. I also have a limited number of sessions available on Saturday mornings.
Where is your office?
I work from a dedicated consulting room in Cheshunt (Waltham Cross), Hertfordshire. It is in a quiet area with easy access and plenty of parking space available. It is close to the M25 and the A10 so is easily accessible from many areas including North London, Enfield, Hoddesdon, Hertford, Ware, Harlow etc.
The cost is £60 per session and payment can be made by cash or any major credit or debit card. A 10% discount is available if you wish to book and pay for 3 or more sessions at once - please ask for details.
What do I do next?
Just contact me to book your first session. I want us both to be comfortable that my approach is the right one for you, so although I am happy for you to email me as a first contact I prefer for us to have a chat before booking a full session. If you are unsure if Cognitive Hypnotherapy or Coaching is right for you then you can start with a free 20 minute consultation. This will give you a chance to meet me and ask any questions you might have about Cognitive Hypnotherapy and the way that I work. If at the end of this consultation you decide that it's not for you then you can just leave and pay absolutely nothing.
