Is it True? |

Well we've survived the election and have a new government, and throughout all of those weeks of campaigning I've often found myself listening to the politicians and the media representatives and asking myself "is what they say true?" And most of us would accept that to be a reasonable question to ask.
However, it made me think how many times do we ask that same question of the voice inside our heads?
Now most of us have that little voice (and it doesn't mean that we are mad). You know the one that pops up when you look in the mirror and tells you that you're fat. The voice that tells you everyone will laugh when you stand up to speak in the meeting at work. The voice that tells you that you shouldn't put yourself forward for promotion because you're stupid and not as good as the other candidates.
So just imagine for a moment how different your life could be if that voice only told you positive things. How much more you could achieve, and how much happier you could feel.
So as a first step, today, you could begin to question the voice, in the same way you would question those politicians. Is what it says true? What evidence does it have to support its claim? Is there another way to look at it?
And sometimes there might (just might) be an element of truth in what the voice says, perhaps there is a problem. But then you can ask if you should listen to it when you are already trying so hard to do something about it and making good progress? Perhaps you could just thank it for its input and move on towards your goals.
