Things you might not know about losing weight

There was a recent program on TV entitled “10 Things You Might Not Know About Losing Weight”.  I found it fascinating and although there were some things in there I already knew – there were a couple of surprises too.

Here are just a couple of my own favourites, which I hope you find useful:

Firstly, eating soup will help to stave off the hunger pangs for longer.  They did an experiment with 2 groups of soldiers.  Both groups had the same meal based on Chicken with a glass of water to drink, however, the second group had the meal liquidised together with the water.  Then they all went out for 4 hours hard training.  When they came back their stomachs were scanned and those who had the liquidised meal still had lots of food left in their stomachs to be digested.  But those who ate the same food “normally” had empty stomachs and were feeling hungry.

The other one I particularly like involves exercise.  If like me you get disappointed after 20 minutes on the treadmill or exercise bike when you see that you have only burnt off 150 calories you will be pleased to know the good news.  Apparently, after we have finished exercising the body will continue burning calories at a higher rate for the following 24 hours – even whilst we are watching TV or sleeping.  It really is a case of “anything more than nothing is success”.

I wish you all the best however you are choosing to lose weight - and if you need some help to reach your goals please give me a call.
