Hello – I’m Brenda Cox and I’m a Cognitive Hypnotherapist and Coach.
I help people to break free from the negative cycle of fears, phobias, anxiety and panic attacks. Most sessions are online via Zoom or Skype but we can also work by telephone if you prefer.
When I was younger I suffered from anxiety and depression which led to panic attacks. This had a massive impact on my life and at one stage I was unable to leave the house for several months.
I had therapy and was able to return to education and then to work. But I obviously hadn’t dealt with the underlying issues as over the years the anxiety kept reappearing. I suffered bouts of IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), emotional eating and unexplained pains.
Luckily I discovered Cognitive Hypnotherapy and realised it didn’t have to be that way. I took control, learnt new ways to think and was able to let go of the constant voice of worry. This led to me wanting to share this knowledge with others. So I decided to train as a Cognitive Hypnotherapist and Coach.
Since this initial training, I have continued to learn more about the causes of fears and anxiety and what can be done to help. Because I’m a firm believer that there is no ‘one size fits all’ solution I have continued to add other tools and ways of working to my toolkit. You can read more about them below.
But if you are ready to have a free conversation about how I can help you find a calmer and happier future – contact me to arrange an initial conversation.
My Hypnotherapist Qualifications
I qualified as a Cognitive Hypnotherapist at the prestigious Quest Institute and set up my practice in Hertfordshire and in Harley Street, Central London. After many years helping people to deal with all types of anxiety and negative thinking I relocated to Essex and I now work completely online or via the phone.
Since qualifying I have undertaken extensive further training including:
- CBT Coaching
- EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique or Tapping).
- Working with Depression.
- EMI Plus or Eye Movement Integration. This is great for working with trauma and PTSD.
- Confident Childbirth (hypno-birthing).
I am also an NLP Master Practitioner (Neuro-Linguistic Programming).
In 2019 I wrote my first book, ‘No Tigers No Lions – A Practical Guide to Mastering Your Anxiety’. I wanted a book that brought together everything that I teach my clients as we work together. I also wanted it to be in a format that would help those who, for whatever reason, were not in a position to work with me at that time.
You can buy it from Amazon in either paperback or kindle versions.
I am a qualified Hypnotherapy Supervisor with the NCH (National Council for Hypnotherapy). This means I work with other hypnotherapists to support them in their work, and to ensure that they are working safely and ethically.
Professional Membership and Your Safety
I am a member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy. I follow their Code of Ethics which includes your safety, confidentiality and a commitment to on-going training. You can always be sure that I am using the safest and most up to date techniques.
