Anxiety – Living With An Old Friend

If you’ve been living with anxiety for a number of years it might feel a bit like an old friend.  It may even be a friend that you’ve had your whole life.

It’s there when you wake up in the morning, and when you fall asleep at night.  It might even be there in the middle of the night chatting away to you and keeping you company.

It’s been there with you through all of life’s big occasions, happy and sad ones.

Perhaps it feels comfortable and safe.  Who knows what life would be like without the worry and anxiety?

I know I used to feel a bit uncomfortable on the odd occasion when I couldn’t find something to worry about.  It felt strange. There must be something wrong if I’m not anxious.  I’m always anxious.

What I want to help you to understand is that anxiety and worry are not your friends.  They only feel comfortable because that’s what you’ve got used to.  Change of any sort, even a really positive change, can feel uncomfortable to your unconscious mind because it likes things to be the same.  The same is safe.  Different could be dangerous.

I personally love Cognitive Hypnotherapy to work with anxiety because there are so many different ways I can help you.  You’re an individual and what works for one person won’t for another.  But I absolutely know there is a way out of this for you.

Sometimes all it takes is realising that your anxiety is not who you really are.  It’s just a part of you at the moment.   You can keep it and turn it into a useful part.  Or you can choose to say goodbye to it.  It’s your choice.

Spend a few minutes each day imagining the future you – she can become your reality, I promise.
