When we have a problem it can often feel as if we are stuck. No matter how hard we try consciously to make changes everything seems to stay the same – or even to get worse.
It doesn’t matter what the problem is: trying to stop smoking or to lose weight; wanting to live life without a particular fear or phobia; or letting go of behaviours such as constant worrying, anxiety or panic attacks. You tell yourself you want to be different but it can be difficult to make the changes that you want.
This is because we all have a powerful unconscious mind which drives these behaviours and ways of thinking. Perhaps they are behaviours we have learnt over time or habits – or they might be a way of protecting us from past traumas or unpleasant events.
Cognitive Hypnotherapy works with both the conscious and unconscious minds to facilitate positive changes.

We are all unique and individual
Everybody is unique – and so are our problems. Even if I see 4 clients in one day for the same problem they will each have developed it in a different way, over a different time frame, and they will have formed different values and beliefs about it.
Cognitive Hypnotherapy recognises this. Unlike traditional hypnotherapy I don’t have set treatment plans or scripts to read. I will listen to you and how things are at the moment – and more importantly how you imagine life will be without your problem. Then I will write individual suggestion patterns, and choose the most appropriate techniques for you.
I have a wide range of different approaches to choose from including hypnosis, NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), positive psychology, cognitive behavioural therapy, gestalt, EMI Plus (which is great for dealing with trauma and PTSD) and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique).
Trance is not unique to hypnosis and hypnotherapy
Trance is a normal part of all our lives – perhaps you are familiar with the feeling of day dreaming in front of the TV, or driving your car to work and not being able to remember the journey when you get there?
So you will be very familiar with the feeling of trance during one of our Cognitive Hypnotherapy sessions.

We all have the resources that we need to make these changes. But you might not be familiar with them, you may have lost them over time – or you may not have discovered them yet.
